Dunmore Caves

Dunmore caves is made up of a series of chambers that have been formed over millions of years. The caves have some of the finest calcite formations found anywhere in Ireland. The caves have been known about for many years, they are first mentioned in the 9th century Irish Triads; where the story is told of a Viking massacre at the caves in the year 928AD.

Kilkenny Castle

The castle is a 12th century building that was remodelled in Victorian times and is set in a extensive parkland. The castle was the principle seat for the Butler family who consist of the Earls, Marquesses and Dukes of Ormond. Much restoration work was completed in early 1994 and the central block is now open to the public. One of Kilkenny City's finest features.

St. Canice's Cathedral

The cathedral was completed in 1285 and is the second largest cathedral in Ireland. You can see the rich carvings worked in both timber and stone, many dating to the 13th century. There are also many fine examples of stained glass, and throughout the cathedral is the authentic air of a building that has served the community for over 700 years.

Our greatest strengths here at Hartford House is we provide a friendly, efficient, hospitable service with personal care and attention . Our house is an old farmhouse 200+ years old.
